- Demonstrating that you're trustworthy when you first meet someone is critical. Like with warmth, some of the trustworthiness is carried both in verbal and nonverbal signals. Let's take a look on how you can sharpen your verbals or what you say when you're talking about yourself. Be focused. Help your listener package your information in a memorable way. Choose one or two words that describe you and communicate that. I often call myself an academic immigrant since I came to the US for college. Are you the curious techie who loves solving problems or the psychology junkie who enjoys studying human behavior? Be concise.
