Communication versus conversation—how to reach out
- We obviously live in a world of social media and digital communications, I get it. But there's a difference between communication and conversation when it comes to connection. So if you use DMs on Instagram or maybe on Facebook or Twitter, that can be an initial way to reach out to somebody but you don't want to leave it there. You want to use that as a way to schedule a conversation that you could move to at least email and possibly cell phone, via text message, or a phone call. But the hope is to get everything into IRL, in real life. Okay, we are still real people, we still need to have face-to-face interactions. We still need to hear the sound of one another's voices. If you work with somebody, don't let a DM be the only way that you communicate with somebody. You can reach out and find their phone number or their email in the company system.
