- How do athletes, from grade school to the pros, generally describe their coaches? You're probably thinking of words like mentor, or supporter, or maybe a phrase, something like they look out for my best interests, or they want me to be the best I can be. Former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning summed it up well, "I have been tremendously impacted "and influenced by my coaches," he said. "It's nice to play for people that are going "to support you." Now think of a person, we'll call her Jen, who works in a typical office environment. It's Friday morning and Jen's in a good mood. She's looking forward to the day ahead.
