- I want you to think about all your negotiation priorities. Now write them down and number them. What's the most important one to you? What's the second and the third? Once you have a numerical prioritized list, take a look and figure out which are the must-have negotiation priorities versus nice-to-have perks. A woman I know made a list of all the things her next job had to have in order for her to take it. She went through the interview process and negotiated back and forth a few times, and her prospective employer met her on three out of four of her must-have negotiation priorities. So what did she do next? She didn't take the job. Remember, this isn't about feeling greedy or selfish or stubborn. It's about setting yourself up for sustainability.
