- What makes a team the most intelligent that it can be? It's not the average intelligence of the team as a whole, and it's not the most intelligent person on the team either. A team is the most intelligent it can be when there's collective intelligence. But this intelligence is challenging to access and express. Let's take a look at what collective intelligence is, why it matters, and what you can do to enhance this on your team. Collective intelligence is not just the sum of every individual's intelligence on a team. You see, when you're on a team, every individual's brain is changed and influenced by the brains of other members, some more, some less so. When you feel what others feel, it activates a network of brain cells called mirror neurons, and you can infer what others are thinking, because you have a network that represents others' points of view too.
