- Change is happening all around us and on the topic of change, management guru Peter Drucker said, "The greatest danger in times of turbulence, "is not the turbulence; it is "to act with yesterday's logic." It's our job to provide guidance during times of turbulence. The consultation competency measured on the SHRM-CP is an analysis of your understanding of how HR provides guidance to employees during times of change. Effective plan change initiatives include HR from the beginning. And plan changes are called Organizational Effectiveness and Development Interventions, or OEDs. The HR role in OEDs is to analyze the impact of change from various perspectives, which could include different departments or employees at different levels. HR can then use that information to guide leaders on how to best support the change initiative.
