- Let's take a look at a sample answer and I'll be right back with some feedback. - It is impossible to cover every use case where there is a skill gap as we always have to learn new skills and grow old ones. So I will create a use case and answer accordingly. Let's assume that the task at hand is to implement web based capability and the skill gap in question is that of language. For example, the language that the company uses is not what I'm conversant in. I would examine the difference in the two languages, the scope of the project, the timelines, how much old code can I use? Does the work rest solely on me or can I tag team with others? And based on all my findings I would create a technical spec where a system design containing all of my assumptions and call out any technical decisions. I would have a peer or a senior leader validate my assumptions, just to make sure that my technical gaps have not led me…
