So I will create a use case and answer accordingly. Let's assume that the task at hand is to implement web based capability and the skill gap in question is that of language. For example, the language that the company uses is not what I'm conversant in. I would examine the difference in the two languages, the scope of the project, the timelines, how much old code can I use? Does the work rest solely on me or can I tag team with others? And based on all my findings I would create a technical spec where a system design containing all of my assumptions and call out any technical decisions.
