Can fear be effective?

- The inspirational leader knows that fear doesn't work as a motivator. This idea of "keep them on their toes" is just a rubbish idea. It's ridiculous to use fear to make people work harder. But it happens all the time. In fact, only a couple of weeks ago, I was in a business, and they were telling me that the boss's favorite phrase is "Everyone's replaceable, you know." And you just think, "That's such a terrible way to manage people" because it doesn't keep 'em on their toes. All it does is make 'em feel insecure. And then they're always covering themselves. They can't relax. They can't take risks because if it goes wrong, they're going to be in trouble. They can't soar. They can't fly if they're just terrified of what's going to happen if they have a problem. So, if you're going to get people to be creative and care and great, you're never going to get that by threatening them and making 'em feel insecure. And…
