- Procurement plays a really important part in any supply chain, and one of the world's largest communities of procurement professionals is CIPS, the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply, based in the U.K. There's a five-step certification process that you can follow in order to become a full member of CIPS, and it lines up with the U.K.'s national education level. CIPS starts with a level two certificate in procurement and supply operations. This is for people who are new to the field of procurement. Then you advance to the level three advanced certificate in procurement and supply operations. The level four is a diploma in procurement and supply, level five is an advanced diploma in procurement and supply, and finally level six is the professional diploma in procurement and supply.
