- Businesses invest in projects to generate benefits not because they want the outputs of those projects. Understanding this is at the heart of the business focus PMO. They're enablers of business outcomes. They help project managers and teams deliver projects that help the business. That means knowing both what the project is designed to deliver and how that contributes. For example, a project may deliver a new product but what the company wants is the revenue that comes from selling that product. That's what traditional PMOs don't understand.
