Have you ever heard of the loneliness epidemic? It's increasingly becoming a dire public health concern. Over the past 50 years, loneliness rates in the US alone have doubled. And in a recent survey of over 20,000 American adults, nearly half reported feeling alone, left out, and isolated. That was certainly the case for Sam who found himself battling burnout after growing social isolation left him feeling nearly invisible. After living in New York for six years, Sam found himself navigating a breakup with few friends nearby to lean on for support. He moved from the Upper East Side of Manhattan to Brooklyn to be surrounded by people who shared his values and interests, but the move didn't make much of an impact because whatever friends he did make were constantly turning over and moving elsewhere every few years.
