- [Narrator] To effectively do Lean Accounting, it's imperative to understand the case skills needed. Now, this doesn't suggest that Lean Accounting needs anything overly special, but it does call for capabilities that tend to be a stretch on traditional accounting skills. And these skills are often not found or are underdeveloped in accounting departments. It's also common to see tension erupt between the business and the accounting department about who and what drives the organization. As a consequence, I often see Lean Accounting, like many other managerial accounting processes be developed outside the accounting department. Picture this, the business for recruiting or upskilling their own staff to produce a set of business-oriented performance reports, whilst at the same time, the accounting department continuing to produce their own traditional financial reports.
