Building a house of quality
- When I'm traveling for business, I need to figure out how I'm going to get around. Depending on where I'm going, I often need to choose a rental car. Sometimes I get the fuel efficient small car but sometimes I go with a large sedan or even an SUV. So how do I decide which one to rent? Well, it depends on the features of each car and on my requirements during the trip. Will I be driving a long distance? Will I need to carry a lot of passengers or cargo? Well, we can formalize this decision process with a handy tool called the House of Quality. It helps you show the relationship between features and requirements so that you can make smart choices in your projects. Now, the official name for this is Quality Functional Deployment or QFD.
