- Trust is a two-way street. Not only does the manager have to earn your trust, you have to earn the manager's trust, which I know can be really hard when you're feeling like you're constantly getting subliminal messaging from your micromanager that you are not to be trusted. But hear me out. It is very rare that trust dissolves solely because of one person. Both people have a part to play. So first things first. Take a look at where you may have been untrustworthy. There may be minor things that you do throughout the workday that may be causing your micromanager to have a tighter grip on your work. One of the easiest ways to build trust is to first evaluate where you could be wrong and admit it.
