- In 2016, a group of researchers looked at data from 112 studies representing over 7,000 teams to resolve the debate about whether inter-team trust makes a difference for team performance. Turns out, trust really does make a difference. This deeper look into the studies revealed that relationships between trust and team performance was strongest for teams with high levels of interdependence. One member's success can't happen without the collective activities of the others. And as you probably guessed it, the higher we go in our organizations, the more interdependent on other leaders and teams we become. So there you go. Trust, especially on senior teams is really important. But what does that mean? How do I know if trust exists within my team and how can I foster it?
