- You've probably heard the adage, it's not what you know, it's who you know, in other words your network can be a big part of your success. So it's very important to build and maintain your network throughout your career. You never know where opportunities may come from. So building your network is more art than science. First connect with people who are on the same journey as you, conference, conventions and online groups all offer opportunities for meeting like-minded people. If you're industry focused attend industry conferences and search for industry groups you can join, as a soft way to expert, you can attend vendor events and conferences to meet fellow experts. You should also search for LinkedIn groups within your niche. Second, surround yourself with people who expand your knowledge and inspire you.
