Break a user story into tasks
- In agile projects, a user story is a high level explanation of how something should work, and why it matters to a customer. We turn those user stories into tasks that can provide detailed descriptions of the work that needs to be completed in order for the story to be true. Here's an example of a user story. As a customer, I want to be notified of the time when my order will be delivered, so that I can be there to accept the shipment. That explains what should happen, but not how to do it. So the next step is for the project team to create tasks that explain the work required to make the story true. One of the tasks might be send the customer an email with the shipping date and tracking number, and that task can be broken into a bunch of smaller tasks like writing the code, configuring the servers and more, and once the tasks are broken down, you can estimate how much time they'll take and assign them to people on…
