- [Instructor] A picture worth 1,000 words, but you still need to include text in most Visio diagrams. Text boxes work fine for page and section labels and you can format them as you choose, but they're usually the wrong choice for labeling shapes. Not only because the text box has no connection to the shape but also because there's usually a better alternative. For example, you can add text to almost any shape. And if you don't like where the text sits on the shape, use the Text Block tool to move it. You can group of set of related shapes by enclosing them in a container. And you need a text box to label the container because it has a built-in heading for that purpose. If you need to annotate a shape and really want the text to stand out, select the shape, go to the Insert menu and choose a callout from the Callout gallery. Add text to the callout, position it wherever you'd like, then you can move, copy, or delete the shape…
