- There is someone I know who is addicted to chaos, disorder and drama. At work the world is always falling apart, at home she's always caught up in some sort of commotion, and is drawn to celebrities and TV shows with lots of conflict. This person will come to me for career and life advice, and I change the subject because I know better. People who thrive in chaos do not want help. They want to vent in good times and bad because that's part of the behavioral pattern. Here's what I want to say to this person, and you: chaos is not healthy. We may live in volatile and uncertain times, but human beings have always lived in chaotic and ambiguous environments. Our species has endured famine, global conflicts and a whole host of threats regularly. But most of us still wake up in the morning, make breakfast, spend time with our families and practice gratitude for what we have. Chaos is a mindset, and so is leadership. When…
