Being a fierce advocate
- Giving feedback should never be a gotcha moment. Your intent should always be to help and not simply to show them where they're wrong. Most of us respond best to feedback from people who have our best interests in mind. If you're a manager, one of your main roles is to be an advocate for your staff's progress and success. It's about developing your employees instead of simply telling them what to do and monitoring their progress. An advocate cares about what others want. Even when giving feedback, it's important for you to adopt an advocate mentality. Here are a few ways you can build that relationship while giving feedback. Ask them to speak first.
