From the course: 21 Opportunities for Better Networking
Become a volunteer
- Volunteering can be a great way to network, but you have to be intentional about where you volunteer. I don't want to discourage you from doing something you're passionate about. Certainly, you can volunteer however you want, but if you want to volunteer as a way of expanding your network, do your volunteer work close to your industry. If you're a graphic designer, then volunteer for Creative Mornings or another group that focuses on the creative community. That puts you around others who are in similar careers, owners of businesses that are in the creative industry, and influencers who will add meaningfully to your network.
