- To develop self-awareness, it's helpful to understand what's going on in our minds. Happiness is not so much what's happening around us, it's what's happening in here. There's a scene in "Harry Potter," and he's in this place where he's not sure if he's dead or not. He's not sure if it's this world or the next, and he's having this conversation with his teacher, Dumbledore. And he says, "Is this just happening in my head or is it real?" And Dumbledore says, "Well, of course it's happening "inside your head, Harry. "Why should that mean it's not real?" The highs, the lows, everything we go through, successes or failures, it's all just in our mind. Now, we're usually not aware of what's going on in our minds. We're on autopilot. But when we become aware, if we want to build awareness, we need to become an observer of our own thoughts. We need to become a spectator to our own thoughts. Let's take the Harry Potter…
