Beauty bias

- If you've ever scrolled through social media, you may be under the impression that attractive people are just naturally more successful. Now, this may or may not be true, but your impression may be the result of a beauty bias. In recruiting and interviewing, the beauty bias is demonstrated when the hiring manager views attractive candidates as more qualified for the position or believes they will be more successful in the role. Much like scrolling through social media, this could be a false perception about a candidate. So, being influenced to hire or not hire based on appearance could result in making the decision based solely on the beauty bias. This bias may cause a hiring manager to disregard any areas where the candidate doesn't excel, such as their skills or abilities, compared to less attractive candidates. The hiring manager may even make excuses for the candidate's low qualifications and justify their decision…
