Battling fatigue
- Did you know that more than two out of five Americans have said that they are too exhausted to function at work? This fatigue can affect your ability to concentrate, make you irritable and reduce your productivity too. I once knew a senior executive at a marketing company with a very demanding job, after starting a new position she was eager to make a good first impression but soon she noticed that she became easily fatigued, she missed deadlines, dragged herself through the day and sometimes even took a nap. Six months later she was still listless so she decided to see her primary care physician. After a thorough exam her doctor diagnosed her with depression and prescribed an antidepressant. A month later her fatigue went away and she was back to her normal self again. Fatigue can be caused by many things, anemia, thyroid disease, diabetes, chronic fatigue syndrome and heart disease are all conditions that can zap your energy, and over 90% of people with depression report fatigue…
