Basics of material handling equipment

- Most supply chains involve tangible, physical products. So supply chain professionals are responsible for moving a huge amount of stuff around. We need to do that safely and efficiently and of course, we need to keep track of where everything is. In this video, we'll look at material handling equipment called MHE and how these hardware technologies play an important role in keeping supply chains moving. I like to explain MHE using a taxonomy that was created by Professor Michael Kay. He breaks it into five categories. The first category is transport equipment which is used to move products from one place to another. This includes conveyors and cranes and it also includes fork trucks for moving pallets and semi-trucks for moving large loads.
