- There's an old joke about an elderly man, who's complaining loudly on a train. He says, "Oh, I'm so thirsty, it's so dry in here and it's making me thirsty." Finally, another passenger pours him a glass of water. The man drinks it and after a few minutes, he starts complaining again. Except this time he says, "Oh, I was so thirsty, it took so long for me to get a glass of water." The old man was doing something called kvetching. It's a Yiddish term for complaining about an imperfect set of circumstances. It has nothing to do with the fulfillment of an underlying desire. In other words, it's not really about quenching your thirst instead it's about vocalizing your struggles in an imperfect world. Most people hear kvetching all the time and don't even think about it. Like someone complaining that their soup is too cold or the bus takes too long to arrive. Your agile team will certainly struggle in an imperfect world.…
