Attitude of friendliness
- We've been talking about being present, relaxing, being awake to your senses. And you might be thinking, great, so how am I going to remember all of this? Why would this be useful for me to do at work? Or even maybe, I can already tell I'm not very good at these practices. Practically everyone will be challenged by mindfulness practice either at the beginning or a little later on. Throughout our decades of teaching, we found that there's a key predictor as to whether mindfulness practice is a rewarding experience or a struggle. The differentiator is attitude. And in particular, an attitude of friendliness. Those who experience easy engagement with mindfulness practice are relating to whatever's happening inside them with a real sense of friendliness.
