- I was introduced to leadership skills and people management at an early age. And I credit this from my ability to get employees motivated and engaged. Leading at the team and individual level has come naturally for me, but it's taken me time to also develop the skill of leading at the organizational level. The best leaders not only lead their team, they make sure their leadership is guided by organizational needs. In this lesson, I want to introduce you to two tools to ensure your leadership is responding to organizational needs and industry forces. The first tool, PESTEL, sometimes spelled P-E-S-T-E-L, and sometimes P-E-S-T-L-E, is an acronym to remind you to look at the forces that can affect any company in the same competitive industry.
