Assess your coworker's communication needs
- It can be overwhelming to pinpoint each of your coworkers' preferred style of communication. Fortunately there's only a few factors you really have to take into account when assessing your coworkers' communication needs. And the first one is to determine where they lie on the spectrum of introversion and extroversion. People swinging towards introversion prefer one-on-one situations, as group settings can be pretty draining. They may be more sensitive to negative evaluations so they prefer not to engage with someone that may seem angry. And they generally aren't too fond of smalltalk. They prefer to tackle the issue at hand in a no-frills approach. Extroverts, on the other hand, thrive in group settings and enjoy engaging with others. They prefer to work through their thoughts out loud and they get energized by talking to and interacting with people. There's a third category here, and that's ambiverts. These people…
