Join Lynda.com Staff Authors for an in-depth discussion in this video Archiving and reinstating users, part of How to Manage Your LyndaPro Account as an Administrator.
- If you have a user who will be taking a leave of absence or who is leaving for any reason, but may be coming back to your organization at a later date, you may want to think about archiving this type of user's account. Archiving allows the option of temporarily disabling their access to the account, but holds it in an archive in case you need to reinstate that user at a later date. To archive one or more users, select them in the user list, go to Manage Users, and select Archive Users. This will pop up a window reminding you that archived users will use one of your transfers when a new user has access, so to confirm you want to archive these users, click Archive, and a banner will appear at the top showing success.
Once a user has been archived and a user takes their place, remember, one of your allotted transfers for the subscription year will be used. To reinstate a user, choose the archived filter in the user status section of the sidebar and select the user or users you want to reinstate. In this case I'm going to reinstate all three. Then click Manage Users and Reinstate Users. A window will pop up making sure that you want to reinstate this user.
You'll click Reinstate to confirm, or Cancel to close. Now the user will be able to log back in to their Lynda.com account again. Two things to remember when reinstating users: First, a user who is already registered will immediately utilize a transfer when reinstated, and second, someone who is not yet registered can be reinstated, but will not use a transfer until they register. And that's how you archive and reinstate users.
