Applying motivation techniques

- It's good to understand what motivates people, but that isn't enough. You need to apply motivation techniques effectively. We'll talk about four key motivators: competence, relatedness, autonomy, and purpose. For this video, we'll use the following definitions. Competence is being able to succeed and excel at what we do. Relatedness is connecting with others, such as networking and other forms of social interactions. Autonomy is being able to direct our own lives. For example, making choices about what we work on and how we spend our time. Purpose is the opportunity to make a positive difference or contribution.
