Appease milestone managers
- I once worked for an organization that had a well established tradition of formal project management. I was coaching a scrum team that was part of their larger agile transformation. We had just given a presentation to the executives who would oversee the transformation. At the end of the meeting, one executive held up a sheet of paper and said, "I don't really care. what kind of technique your team uses, as long as I get one of these." From the back of the room we could see that he was holding up a Gantt chart. The other coaches and I looked at each other and we knew there was no way we could create a Gantt chart that showed detailed progress in milestones.
