- Getting paid for referrals is viable if you have enough people. Whether website visitors or some other source that you can refer to merchants who offer affiliate commissions. If you don't know a lot of people, don't have a lot of followers or have a website with sufficient traffic, most likely, you'll struggle. So if you choose to pursue this model and you have or you build up a good source of referrals, it's best to have relationships with multiple merchants. I did a story awhile back about someone who had built a six-figure business entirely on referrals, which was awesome, but only with one company.
