- We already know that the Agile coach needs to function at the individual team role and organization levels. We also know the coach needs to flex across the teacher and mentor positions when coaching. We're missing one key element though, the mindset that makes this all possible. So, what are the key elements to the coaching mindset? First, there's the deep belief and understanding that coaching is a partnership. The person or group you're coaching are your partners. They've invited you, the coach, to help them on their journey to learn, grow and change. The foundational mindset then, includes an overriding belief in the capability of the coachee. As a coach, you need to believe the coachee is someone who is smart and resourceful enough to identify and solve problems themselves.
