- You also want to ask yourself some additional questions when you look at your desired career. One of the most important questions to ask is, do I need additional education after college to get the job I want. Too many people don't realize that college is just the first step in their career. I know a lot of people who get into the counseling field and they don't realize they need a masters just to get an entry level job in the field. So this is true of your field. You need to add that into your calculations. For example, my brother knew he wanted to be a lawyer, so he only spent $10,000 on college because he knew he'd also have to pay for law school. So make sure you calculate all the education you're going to need for that career. It's going to help you get super motivated to get college scholarships, especially if you know you're going to need a master's or even a doctorate degree after.
