- When you want to be more innovative but you struggle with it, ask yourself, what does an innovator's brain look like? And what did they do to make their brains that way? Let's take a look at two key brain regions that change when you're innovative, and what you can do to create these changes too. First up is the frontopolar cortex. That's right here in the front of your head and we now know how to turn this on. To turn on this part of your innovation brain, you must use analogical thinking. This simply means thinking in analogies. Let's say you'd like to innovate a new marketing strategy and want to broaden your reach. You might think of analogies like the sun, which reaches the entire world, a news station which has wide distribution, or an actual viral epidemic which is contagious and spreads quickly.
