Accountability in virtual teams

- There are lots of benefits to working on virtual teams, and some aspects of managing your team's work may be easier when you have your teammates working virtually. But the lack of direct contact and ongoing interaction can also create some unique challenges. There are some specific things you'll want to keep in mind when remotely managing some, or all of your team. Since you don't have the benefit of running into teammates at the water cooler, make sure you schedule face-to-face meetings using video-conferencing. In the short run, this may not be the most efficient way to communicate, but there are long-term benefits, like stronger relationships, trust, and better communication. This is true for individual and team meetings. Icebreakers and team building exercises are vital for virtual teams.
