- The most important part of a paperless system is ensuring your data is safe from loss and theft. This is essential in order to trust your system and to ensure your data is secure. Some tools for protecting your data are backups, encryption, and redundancy. A good backup system includes all of these. A Backup is a copy of your data, stored securely in a separate location.
