Setting up email filters in Gmail

Most major email systems include the ability to set up filters, also called "rules", for incoming messages. Filters tell the mail system what to do with the message when it arrives. Based on the criteria you select, you can have the message moved to a specific folder, flagged so it stands out, marked as read, deleted, and many more options. Let's create a folder in Gmail. First, log into your Gmail account. We're going to create a filter so Gmail can sort incoming messages that have the word "toastmasters" in the subject line into our "Toastmasters" folder. To create your first rule, click to add a check mark to the box to the left of any message you want included in the rule. You can just pick one. Click the box labeled "more" in the top right of the menu bar, and a drop-down menu will appear. Click "filter messages like these" towards the bottom of the box.
