- Lighting is a little understood and often overlooked element in an office. The wrong lighting can cause fatigue and other mood or health problems, but the right lighting can reduce eye strain, increase productivity, and improve mood. Let's talk about some lighting choices for your office. Many basic offices come with a standard overhead fluorescent light, this provides plenty of light, but there are many theories and studies that feel using only overhead fluorescent light at high levels can cause health issues. These issues may include migraines, eye strain, sleep problems, anxiety, obesity, depression, and more. This is due both to the quality of the light, as well as how fluorescent lights flicker, though you might not be able to see it with the naked eye.
