Join Haydn Thomas for an in-depth discussion in this video On the role of business analysis in innovation, part of Insights from a Business Analyst.
Innovation is a great word, it's a concept…that's been thrown around in a lot of organizations…that talk about wanting to do things differently,…or more efficiently or doing things…that are a little bit outside the normal.…As a business analyst, that's where these opportunities lie.…A lot of the times, as a business analyst,…we focus on problems and how we fix problems.…But innovation talks more about the opportunities…that we come across and how we can actually…take those opportunities from the idea…through to the actual execution of the change…while using projects to then operational acceptance.…
So, the business analyst's role in innovation…is really the ability to go and get people thinking.…We use brainstorming sessions as an example;…to get the ideas out on the table.…So using your skills through elicitation…and facilitation techniques, the business analyst…can be a great one to get the information…out of people's heads and to be able…to get it in a way that can be presented…to senior management and to the organization itself…
