The power of role-playing

- All too often, I work with companies who treat training as a once-a-year expense. They bring everybody together for a conference, they bring in a speaker, sometimes somebody like me, and then they send everybody off thinking they're going to go do a great job. I often turn down these requests because I find businesses don't get lasting value from them. People leave motivated and excited, and, of course, they think I was a fantastic speaker. But they usually go back to work and return to their normal ways. If you want to create change, you need consistent, ongoing training. To develop this type of ongoing training, use role-playing. In retail, role-playing is one of the most underutilized growth tools available. Here are a few ways to implement role-playing and how to do it properly. First and foremost, let everybody know that you're going to be role-playing regularly.
