Join Haydn Thomas for an in-depth discussion in this video On facilitation skills, part of Insights from a Business Analyst.
Facilitation is one of the biggest tools…a business analyst has in their toolbox,…and one of the things I'd encourage you to do…is actually look at all the differing types…of facilitation techniques.…The first one is obviously having…one-on-one interviews.…With that you need to, as I said,…have a purpose and an agenda.…There's a road map that you're trying to get through…and a reason of why you're doing it.…In other words, facilitation, you need to take…these things seriously. One-on-one interviews…is a way to facilitate.…Another way is group facilitation.…
That's where we're doing workshops,…joint requirement sessions,…and brainstorming sessions, but, once again,…you need to let people know why you're there…and, secondly, the structure of the road map.…More importantly, we've got to let them know…what the outcome is expected from this time invested…because, as most people are very busy,…they're not going to invest their time…if they don't perceive they're going to receive…some sort of value or achieve some sort of outcome…
