Your career as a consultant

- Consulting is not a job. It's more like, seven jobs. They can be great fun, and very rewarding, but you need to be prepared. People who take on consulting roles typically believe they need three things: skills and experience, a bit of marketing, and an interest in working in a variety of environments. All of these items are accurate, but seriously incomplete. Successful consultants know they need much more. And, what clients expect from consultants can vary widely. And what they actually need you to do can be completely different from what they expect. Consulting is an exciting, dynamic form of work. You can have a positive impact on your clients, and be well paid for your effort. But, you have to be appropriately equipped. Hi, I'm Bob McGannon, and I've served as a consultant for nearly 30 years, and worked in three different continents for numerous clients, both large and small. Join me on LinkedIn Learning, and we'll discuss the seven potential roles you need to play during a consulting engagement, and how you can identify and manage those roles to successfully deliver consulting engagements.
