- When you begin a new job, it takes a period of time to really feel comfortable and have confidence that you're doing it well. This is very true if you become a Field Sales Representative. I think it could take a few cycles through the territory before you really get into the groove of managing the business. In time, you'll have a sales plan for working with and selling to your accounts, a good solid relationship with your manager, know how best to work with colleagues from the home office, and utilize all the resources from your company. Being a field representative is something I really loved. The independence, the education it gave me on the importance of being organized, the opportunity to schedule my calls, and work with customers based on what I felt would generate the most revenue.
