- One of the aspects of a career in sales that many find to be so great, is the ability to work offsite. It's the freedom to set your own schedule, having no involvement with office politics, and experiencing the feeling like you're running your own small business. To a lesser degree, but still significant, are the salespeople based in the home office who love the fact that they can travel a lot to see accounts. It frees them from office meetings and the feeling of being confined in a corporate atmosphere. The downside with all of that, are the preconceived notion that some people have of what salespeople really do away from the office. It's become a bit of a joke through the years for some, and at times a bit mean-spirited for others, to question the work ethic of salespeople.
