- One of the aspects of my job in sales that I've enjoyed the most has been working with sales colleagues and customers from around the world. I've often said that the obstacles and opportunities along with the struggles and excitement are something we experience no matter where we live. We may speak different languages, but the smile you show and the great feeling you have after closing a sale is a bond that breaks down all barriers. That being said, I've also seen how as salespeople working across borders, it can be a delicate process too. A salesperson from the US calling on a customer from Singapore is a lot different than calling on a buyer from New York. Ignorance and awkward situations can arise when people haven't taken the time to learn about customs, culture, and ethical behavior in countries they may be visiting.
