Why we choose our negative emotions

- This next video is about negative emotions, and it's really important. Your happiness is already there, like the sun shining, but the problem is that every now and then, it's obscured by clouds, and these clouds are your negative emotions. If you could reduce the amount of cloud cover, then the happiness would be able to shine through more often. But can we reduce our negative emotions? Our we in control of our emotions at all? Or do they just well up from inside us in response to whatever happens to us? I'd like to suggest that most of the time, you can affect your negative emotions. You're actually choosing them without realizing, and you choose them because although they are emotions that make you feel unhappy, you think you get a payoff from them. Somewhere deep down in your subconscious, you have a belief that these emotions might have a benefit. For example, you might believe that getting angry makes you stronger or that it will be good for you to let off steam. Or you might…
