What to tell your current boss

- To tell or not to tell. That is a tricky question. Do you tell your current boss that you're considering leaving her to work for someone else or do you risk it and hope she doesn't find out? Telling your boss you're interested in interviewing for an internal position has many advantages including first they say honesty is the best policy. Knowing that your boss will eventually find out, taking the honest approach and giving them a heads-up may be your best option. In doing this, however, avoid giving out too many details about why the position is attractive to you. For instance, you wouldn't want to say this new job would let me do all the things I've been asking to do on your team in which you haven't supported 'cause that's going to make your boss feel terrible. Second, your boss could be in a position to endorse you and advocate for you.
