What product innovation is and isn't

- This course isn't about creating a culture of innovation and it's beyond the run of the mill idea management that product managers already have to juggle. Yes, those are important concepts, but this course is focused on doers of product innovation to help you tap into the super power of getting big things done without formal authority. But before we get too far let's identify what product innovation is, the product manager's role, and recognize the challenges to innovating. Product innovation can be categorized into two types. Incremental and radical. Incremental innovation, the less risky and most frequently seen, is the improvement of existing products. A perfect example of this is the development of the first Walkman, a personal music player released by Sony in 1979. It combined an audio cassette player and headphones.
